Monday, January 24, 2022 | Track and Field
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The USTFCCCA released its initial Indoor Track and Field rankings for the 2022 season on Monday afternoon. The ranking system is an objective calculation, factoring in the best marks from the current season at hand.
The women start the year at No. 5 in the nation with a team that includes six top-five national marks. The Gators currently have four female athletes in the top-3 in the NCAA of their respective events. Imogen Barrett (800m, 3rd), Grace Stark (60mH, 1st), Jasmine Moore (LJ, 2nd) and Natricia Hooper (TJ, 2nd) all had impressive showings in the opening weekend of the year. Talitha Diggs won both the 60m and 300m races at the Clemson Invitational.
After running a 7.86 in the 60m hurdles at the Clemson Invitational, Stark was named USTFCCA National Women's Athlete of the Week and SEC Co-Women's Runner of the Week on January 18th.
Florida's 4x400 relay team of Taylor Manson, Sterling Lester, Doneisha Anderson and Anna Hall clocked a 3:33.11 at the Clemson Invitational, the sixth best time in the NCAA this year.
This is the highest ranking the Florida women have had in an initial USTFCCCA poll since the Gators began the 2015 indoor season ranked No. 1.
Florida will head to the Bob Pollock Meet this weekend at Clemson University where most of its roster will run their main events.
