CLEMSON, S.C. – The opening day of the Bob Pollock Meet, hosted by Clemson University, was dominated by the Florida sprinters and pentathletes as the Gators won five events and broke two school records.
The day began with Anna Hall becoming the new NCAA and World leader in the Pentathlon after scoring 4370 points across her five events and was capped by Florida's three-man sweep of the 60m finals behind top-16 NCAA times from Dedrick Vanover, PJ Austin and Tyler Davis.
Florida's sprinters were once again outstanding. After breaking a school record at the Clemson Invitational in the 60-meter hurdles, Grace Stark entered the 60m dash and broke the school record in the event in the semifinals with a time of 7.12. The NCAA leader in the 60-meter hurdles recorded the second-best time in the NCAA in the 60m and the fourth-best time in the world.
Stark's performance was complimented by an outstanding day from Semira Killebrew. Killebrew matched her PR in the 60m with a time of 7.19 in the semifinals, the fourth-best time in the NCAA this season. Stark and Killebrew finished first and second in the semifinals and finals.
The Gators ran in the 400m for the first time this season and wasted no time putting their names among the nation's best. Talitha Diggs and Taylor Manson went 1-2 with Diggs becoming the new NCAA leader and Manson running the fourth-fastest time in the NCAA this year.
On the men's side, Jacory Patterson ran a casual 45.98, the second-fastest time in the NCAA and third-fastest time in the world. Ryan Willie followed right behind him at 46.23, the fourth-fastest time in the NCAA this year.
Claire Bryant made her season debut and jumped 6.57 meters, the third-best performance in the NCAA this season.
In total, eight Gators now rank in the top-5 in the NCAA in their respective events. Their marks are also top-10 marks in the world.
The Gators also ran two DMR teams at Kentucky on Friday night. The women's team of Imogen Barrett, Cait Tate, Vasileia Spyrou and Parker Valby became the new NCAA leaders with a 11:00.92. It was also the fourth-fastest time in Florida history.
The Men's DMR team of Caden Monk, Sam Austin, Miles Green and Angel Vicioso ran 9:45.37, the second-fastest time in the NCAA this year.
Florida returns to action tomorrow for the final day of the Bob Pollock Meet. The 200m dash and the 4x400 relays are among the marquee events of the day.
