NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Florida women's track and field program earned three national awards for the 2022 Indoor Season as announced by the USTFCCCA on Monday afternoon.
Jasmine Moore (Women's Field Athlete of the Year), Mike Holloway (Women's Coach of the Year) and Nic Petersen (Women's Assistant Coach of the Year) were all recipients of national honors following the success of Florida's women's track and field team during the indoor season
.
Moore continues to rack up awards in the early stages of her Florida career. She became the first woman in NCAA Indoor Track and Field history to win conference and national titles in the Long Jump and Triple Jump in the same season.
Her mark of 14.57m on her first attempt in the triple jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships broke her own collegiate record which she set earlier in the season at the Bob Pollock Meet.
Moore's victory in the Long Jump made her the first woman in program history to win an Indoor National Championship in the event.
Just this season, Moore has been named SEC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, USTFCCCA South Region Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year and now takes the national honor too. She has also earned a spot on each of the three watch list updates for The Bowerman this year.
Moore is just the second Florida athlete (Yanis David, 2019) to be named USTFCCCA Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. Candice Scott also won the award in 2005 when it was a combined women's honor.
She is the indoor school-record holder in the Long Jump and Triple Jump and will take her talents outdoors for the first time as a Gator this weekend at the Texas Relays.
For the first time in his career, Holloway was named USTFCCCA Women's Coach of the Year during the indoor season. He's won the award nine times previously (five indoor, four outdoor) on the men's side.
The Gators claimed the NCAA Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship for just the second time in program history and the first time since 1992. This was Holloway's first national title as the head coach of the women's team.
Florida scored 68 team points and had five individual national champions, winning the title with three events to spare.
Holloway became just the sixth head coach in Division I Track and Field history to win 10 team national championships.
For the first time in his career, Petersen was named USTFCCCA National Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.
Petersen helped guide Florida's jumps team to two National Championships and two SEC Championships.
Headlined by Moore's impressive double at the SEC and National meets, Florida's Long Jumpers and Triple Jumpers scored 30 team points at the NCAA Indoor Championships and 34 team points at the SEC Indoor Championships.
Florida now holds the title for most NCAA Women's Indoor Championships in the Triple Jump (5).
The Gators will open the outdoor campaign with a split weekend between the Raleigh Relays (Distance) and Texas Relays (Sprints, Jumps and Multis) from March 23-26.
