GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The nine-time NCAA Champion Florida Men's Track and Field program announced the addition of six new members in its 2022 recruiting class on Friday morning.
This selection of athletes brings a versatile recruiting class to the program featuring state placers in jumps, throws, sprints and distance events as well as a Junior College All-American. The six signees have combined for four state championships at their respective high schools and have competed in events at the national and world level.
"I am pleased to welcome this group of young men to the Gator Track and Field Family," Florida Head Coach
Mike Holloway said. "This group covers all the event areas and will be major contributors as they grow and mature in our program.
The 2022 class joins a Florida program that has placed in the top-5 in 26 consecutive SEC Indoor Championships and 23 of the last 24 SEC Outdoor Championships. Since head coach
Mike Holloway took over the men's program in 2003, Florida has won seven SEC Championships and nine NCAA Championships.
The Gators signed a pair of distance runners in
Adam Magoulas and
Matthew Stratton. The pair has combined for three top-3 finishes at the FHSAA Cross Country State Championships in their careers.
This class also features sprinter
Kevar Williams and jumper
Jordan McCants. Williams was a 2021 FHSAA State Champion in the 200 meters while McCants took a runner-up finish in the 2021 GHSA State Championships in the Long Jump.
Florida's versatile class is rounded out by Georgia state champion and thrower
Logan Montgomery as well as NJCAA All-American
Fabio Hessling.
The six athletes will become eligible starting in the 2022-2023 season.
