GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After a two-game road tilt in Southeastern Conference play, Florida women's basketball returns home on Sunday, Jan. 8, for a noon ET game against Georgia.
The game, which is slated for a noon ET tip, will air live on ESPNU with Tiffany Greene and Aja Ellison on the call, while Kyle Crooks and Brittany Davis will handle radio responsibilities on 98.1FM/850AM WRUF.
AT THE GAME
Sunday's game will feature Sundae Sunday, with the first 200 fans in attendance receiving free ice cream. The game against Georgia will also be themed 'Jumpman Day,' with the with fans having the opportunity to win a pair of Jordans during the game. Postgame layups sponsored by Meldon Law will take place after the game, and, for the rest of SEC play, all fans 18 and younger can attend for free.
SERIES HISTORY
The Gators and Bulldogs meet for the 81st time on Sunday, with Georgia holding a 62-18 advantage. Last season, the foes split the series, with UF winning in Athens, 54-51.
A LOOK BACK
Last season, Florida and Georgia split the season series with the Bulldogs winning, 73-69 in Gainesville and the Gators taking a 54-51 victory in Athens. Florida's win over #14/11 Georgia on the road marked just the sixth time in program history that the Gators defeated the Bulldogs in Athens, in addition to snapping a nine-game losing skid to UGA. Jordyn Merritt with 11, while

Florida senior guard,
KK Deans, secured her 1,000th career point on the road at Arkansas on Jan. 5, 2023. With 5:23 showing on the clock in the third quarter, Deans converted an acrobatic lay-in to earn the accolade. The West Virginia transfer recorded 788 points with the Mountaineers and currently holds 224 points on the season with the Gators, pushing her career total to 1,012. She is now the second 1,000-point scorer on the roster, as
Leilani Correa scored 1,272 points in her three seasons at St. John's.

Florida women's basketball is elite when it comes to getting to the free throw line, knocking down 16.38 per game which is second in the SEC and 13th in the nation. They average 23.00 attempts per game, sitting at third in the conference and 14th nationally.
STEPPING UP
With the absence of
Leilani Correa and
Jordyn Merritt, freshman
Myka Perry has seen a significant increase in her minutes with the Gators. The freshman put together a breakthrough game against Arkansas on Jan. 5, scoring 17 points with her first two collegiate triples in addition to three rebounds. Her effort marked the fourth-consecutive season with a freshman scoring 17 or more points in a game for UF, joining Lavender Briggs,
Jordyn Merritt and
Alberte Rimdal.
NET UPDATE
After falling to Arkansas on the road on Jan. 5, Florida moved to 82nd in the NET rankings. All 14 SEC schools sit within the top 136, while South Carolina and LSU hold the top two spots, respectively.
MAKE IT 800
Florida women's basketball claimed their 800th victory as a program with a 55-48 victory at Texas A&M on Jan. 1, 2023. When the Gators accomplished the feat, they became 13th SEC school to cross the 800-win threshold, with Mississippi State also chasing the accomplishment, owning 775 victories as a program entering the 2022-23 season.
