
Three Gators Finish World Championships Competition; One Advances to Finals

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – As the final days of the 2023 World Athletics Championships approach, the Gators continue to compete. Day six (Thursday, August 24) and seven (Friday, August 25) featured four athletes that took part in three events of various rounds.
On Thursday, Marquis Dendy participated in the men's long jump and Joseph Fahnbulleh ran in the men's 200m.
During Friday's action, Fahnbulleh took to the track again in the 200m, Moore competed in her second final in Budapest and Sani Brown represented Team Japan in the 4x100m relay.

FAHNBULLEH COMPLETES THIRD STRAIGHT WORLD FINAL
Fahnbulleh competed on back to back days participating in the 200m semi-final on Thursday and, after qualifying for it, participating in the final on Friday.
As for the semi-final race, the Liberia representative finished 8th and recorded a time of 20.21, capturing the final qualifying spot by one-hundredth of a second.
This marked the third straight 200m World Final that Fahnbulleh has participated in: 2020 Tokyo Olympics, 2022 World Championships, and now 2023 World Championships.
In the final, he crossed the finish line in ninth place, posting a time of 20.57.
DENDY CONCLUDES LONG JUMP FINAL
Dendy concluded his second World Championship in as many years with an appearance in the men's long jump final. He placed twelfth overall in the event, leaping 7.62m (25'0").
MOORE FINISHES FINALS IN SECOND EVENT
Moore concluded her 2023 season participating the women's triple jump finals. The 2023 NCAA Outdoor Champion in the event placed eleventh at World Championships on Friday, jumping 13.54m (44'5").
With Dendy and Moore participating in their respective finals, this concludes all competition from Gators jumpers at the 2023 World Championships. Gator jumpers Will Claye, Marquis Dendy, and Jasmine Moore all participated in the finals of their respective events.
SANI BROWN HELPS JAPAN ADVANCE
Sani Brown ran the final leg of Team Japan's 4x100m relay team on Friday afternoon. He helped the team advance to the relay final courtesy of a third-place finish in the first heat and a season best time of 37.71. The former Gator recorded a split of 8.93 seconds.
The finals for the men's 4x100m relay are scheduled for Saturday, August 26 at 3:40 p.m. ET.
