Florida to Host Lady Bulldogs as Conference Play Continues
Florida remains hungry for their first conference win of the season after being challenged on the road in their last two contests. Senior Zippy Broughton says "they are optimistic and staying level-headed going into Georgia on Sunday."

Florida to Host Lady Bulldogs as Conference Play Continues

The Gators will return home for a Sunday afternoon contest against Georgia. Both Florida and the Lady Bulldogs are coming off tough Thursday night losses in the league and are looking to redeem themselves in the O'Dome. 
GAINESVILLE, Fla.– The Gators are set to return to the O'Dome Sunday afternoon and face the Lady Bulldogs after a two-game road stretch in Tennessee. The contest against Georgia will be Florida's second home game of 2024 and their fourth SEC matchup. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. and the conference game will be available to stream on SECN+. 

GEORGIA (10-6, 1-2):
THE SERIES:
The current series between Florida and the Bulldogs stands at 63-18 with Georgia holding the overall lead. The first matchup between the respective universities dates back to January of 1978 with Florida taking a 83-79 victory. 

HISTORY:
Florida is currently on a two-game losing streak in the all-time series against Georgia falling to them in January and February of 2023. In both losses last season Florida was led in scoring by KK Deans, putting up consecutive double figures in scoring against Georgia. Deans recorded 22 points on Jan. 8, 2023, and 13 points on Feb. 12, 2023.  The Gators last win against the Lady Bulldogs traces back to February of 2022, when the Gators pulled out a 54-51 win on the road, ending Georgia's nine-game winning streak over the Gators, spanning from 2018-2022.
 
FLORIDA'S LAST GAME:
Florida has faced a challenging slate to start conference play, resulting in a loss to No. 1 South Carolina, followed by two road losses in Tennessee against Vanderbilt and the Lady Vols. Most recently the Gators fell 88-81 in Knoxville with Aliyah Matharu leading Florida on offense with 23 points, going 8-of-22 from the field. Florida was led by Laila Reynolds on the boards with eight rebounds, followed by Matharu snagging a total of five. Overall Florida had four players in double-figures for scoring but it was not enough against Tennessee's Jewel Spear and Sara Puckett with 20 points apiece. 

ABOUT GEORGIA:
The Bulldogs are being led in scoring by Javyn Nicholson with a combined 249 points, averaging 16.6 a game. The only other player on Georgia's roster currently averaging in double figures for scoring is Zoesha Smith with 10.5. Nicholson is also leading the team on the boards with an average of 9.8 rebounds a game. 
 
During the 2023-24 non-conference season Georgia faced familiar opponents: Columbia, Purdue, and Georgia Tech. The Gators defeated all three, whilst the Bulldogs fell to Georgia Tech 64-53. The Bulldogs also saw losses to Belmont (76-50), Duke (72-65), and Ball State (52-51) during non-conference play.
