Gators Conclude McFerrin-12 Degree Invitational with Nine First-Place Finishes

The nine first place finishes were the most of any team at the meet and each individually stand as a facility record at R.A. Fasken Indoor Track.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — After a full day of competition which featured 56 athletes participating in 24 events, the Gators leave Texas A&M with nine first-place finishes, nine facility records, and 29 personal bests.

The athletes who tallied first-place finishes include Claire Bryant (2x), Malcolm Clemons, Grace Stark, Jess Edwards, Parvej Khan, Jasmine Montgomery, Robert Gregory, and the 4x400m team consisting of Reheem Hayles, Wanya McCoy, Ashton Schwartzman and Jevaughn Powell.

BRYANT STARTS DAY WITH WOMEN'S HIGH JUMP GOLD

After passing the first three heights in the Women's High Jump, Bryant completed the subsequent four heights in just six attempts which eventually led to a final a mark of 1.84m (6'0.5"). Not only was this a personal best for Bryant but it also stands as the fourth best mark in Florida's Indoor All-Time Top 10 List.

BRYANT AND CLEMONS SWEEP EVENT

As Bryant and Clemons stole the show in the Women's and Men's Long Jump. Both athletes were able to grab the top mark on their first jump and never surrendered their lead.

Bryant's best jump was measured at 6.61m (21'8.25") while Clemons' largest leap was 8.00m (26'3") which is also a indoor personal best for the senior.

EDWARDS TOPS COMPETITION

Behind a time of 1:28.55, a new indoor personal best for the redshirt sophomore, Edwards earned a first place finish in the Women's 600m.

STARK FLIES IN WOMEN'S 60M HURDLES

After competing in just two meets in the 2023 indoor season, Stark came back to the indoor track with a vengeance. The senior from White Lake, Michigan advanced to the finals in the event courtesy of 8.04 mark which is the fourth fastest on Florida's Indoor All-Time Top 10 List. Stark topped that time in the finals as she galloped her way to a time of 7.97 finishing short of her indoor personal best of 7.78.

Nonetheless, Stark's time is second on Florida's Indoor All-Time Top 10 List and is the first collegiate woman to run sub-8 in the 60m H this year.

KHAN SNATCHES GOLD IN DEBUT

Khan, a freshman from Madhya Pradesh, India, impressed in his collegiate and Gator debut as despite trailing for most of the Men's 800m, he found a final gear in the 200m to snatch first place, tally a personal best and establish a strong baseline for his freshman campaign.

MONTGOMERY AND GREGORY BOTH CLAIM 1ST IN WOMEN'S AND MEN'S 200M

Montgomery and Gregory had identical performances in Saturday's action. After both placing fourth in the Women's and Men's 60m, respectively, the duo claimed first place finishes in their second events of the meet.

Montgomery dashed to a personal best mark of 23.11 which is eighth on Florida's All-Time Top 10 List. Gregory, who was the 2023 SEC Outdoor Champion in the 200m, claimed the top spot behind a time 20.47 good for the final spot on Florida's Indoor All-Time Top 10 List.

4x400M RELAY CLAIMS TOP TIME

The quartet of Reheem Hayles, Wanya McCoy, Ashton Schwartzman and Jevaughn Powell put together a time of 3:05.89 and was constructed courtesy of 46.13, 46.58, 47.06 and 46.14 splits.
