Florida Tennis Ranked in Top 10 National Preseason Poll
Wednesday, January 3, 2024 | Women's Tennis
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida women's tennis will enter the spring 2024 season ranked No. 10 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division I Preseason Poll.
The ITA Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by the ITA National Ranking Committee. The National Ranking Committee is made up of the 13 ITA Region Chairs, with each chair casting an individual, secret ballot.
In addition to the Gators, five other SEC squads find themselves in the Top 25, including Texas A&M (2), Georgia (3), Auburn (11), Vanderbilt (17) and Tennessee (18). The Gators will play each conference opponent and meet nationally-ranked Pepperdine (8) and Michigan (5) during the spring. In addition, Florida will also play Baylor and Florida State, both receiving votes in the preseason poll but not making the top 25.
Florida's ranking of 10 is a significant jump from last year's preseason rank of 18, proving that the Gators had a successful 2023 season. Florida ended last spring going 18-8 with nine wins against ranked opponents, including a big victory over third-ranked Michigan. Florida's top 10 ranking also comes from successful fall play, where Emily De Oliveira led the Gators as the 2023 ITA Regional Champion.
Received Votes (Alphabetical): Baylor, Florida State, San Diego, South Carolina, UCF, Wake Forest
