
Gators Set for Final Round at Muirfield vs. Charlotte

Both Gator golf teams completed the first two rounds of match play at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup.
DUBLIN, OHIO - The Florida Gators golf teams completed the first two matches against Clemson and Ohio State in the Barbara Nicklaus Cup on Monday at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
On the men's side, Florida opened up with a 4-2 victory in the opening match against host Ohio State before falling 2.5-3.5 to Clemson in round two. The women dropped 2.5-3.5 to the Buckeyes and 2.5-3.5 against the Tigers.
Both teams will finish the tournament tomorrow against Charlotte with the men's match first off at 7:45 a.m. and the women set for 8:39 a.m. start.
A trio of Gators won both of their matches in Ian Gilligan, Sophie Stevens and Jack Turner. After going 2-0 in match play last season, Turner moves to 4-0 all-time in collegiate match play and didn't trail at any point today, only squared on six occasions in 34 holes played. Gilligan went wire-to-wire in his first match and only dropped three holes while maintaining a 3-plus hole lead on nine holes.
Stevens also led an entire match in her second round for a 2&1 victory, just losing three holes in 17 played. She flipped her opening match after trailing 1-down through 11 holes, winning the next two holes for a 1-up lead to hold for a 1UP win.
Freshman Siuue Wu flipped her first round battle and erased a 4-down deficit through eight holes, winning eight of the next 10 holes. She wouldn;t lose a match in her second college event, halving her second round match. Fellow first-year Jessica Guiser, rallied from 2-down through 15 holes and won the last three consecutive holes in her matchup vs. Clemson.
Parker Bell marked the fourth UF golfer not to drop a match, tying his opponent in round two and a 5&4 in the opening dual vs. OSU.
