TAMPA, Fla. —Florida finished out the Tampa based tournament falling 77-72 to James Madison on Friday afternoon. The Gators had three players in double figures for scoring and were led overall by freshman Liv McGill with a 20-point performance.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After tallying a loss to Tulane, the Gators came out strong on Friday afternoon against the Dukes. Florida secured the first five points of the contest and held as high as a 10-point lead in quarter one. The second quarter teetered back and forth with a tied game at 27-27 (8:37), 39-39 (1:35), 41-41 (1:10), and 43-43 (0:21).
Florida and James Madison were even at 43-43 to start the second half. Kyle secured the first bucket of the third to put the Gators ahead at 45-43 (9:49). After that Florida was unable to produce offensively for the next four minutes and 42 seconds. The third quarter proved to be UF's most difficult, scoring a game low 12 points.
UF continued to be challenged in the final period of play, as JMU outscored them 34-29 in the second half to solidify a 77-72 victory over the Gators.
