Assistant Coach Rhyne Howard Named to 2024 Olympic Women's Qualifying Team

Florida's Assistant Coach Rhyne Howard is one of 12 players selected to represent the United States on the 2024 Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament Roster.
Coach Rhyne Howard traveled to New York earlier this month alongside several standout WNBA players to take part in a three-day USA training camp. At the end of the New York-based camp, twelve elite athletes were named to the 2024 USA Olympic Qualifying Tournament Team, and among those was Rhyne Howard.

Rhyne Howard joined Coach Finley's staff as an assistant coach and director of player personnel this season during her 2023 WNBA off-season with the Atlanta Dream. Before being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 WNBA draft, Howard played at a fellow SEC school where she earned a long list of accolades including SEC Player of the Year, SEC Freshman of the Week, SEC Newcomer of the Year by Associated Press, espnW National Freshman of the Year, SEC Tournament MVP.

The women's basketball standout is no stranger to representing the United States, as Howard played for the 2018 USA Basketball's U18 and U19 National teams. In both junior USA outings, Howard and her team won gold and in 2018 Howard was named MVP. Although she has repped the red, white, and blue before, Howard makes her debut as a member of the senior women's national team this year.

Howard joins Ariel Atkins, Aliyah Boston, Napheesa Collier, Kahleah Cooper, Sabrina Ionescu, Jewell Loyd, Kelsey Plum, Breanna Stewart, Diana Taurasi, Alyssa Thomas, and Jackie Young on the official roster. The team will be led by four-time WNBA champion, Cheryl Reeve and Atlanta Dream head coach, Tanisha Wright.
