
Bryant Crowned SEC Champion, Charlton and Thorner Secure Silver, Foster Earns Bronze on Day Two of SEC Outdoor Championships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida Track & Field programs concluded the second day of the SEC Outdoor Championships earning four medals and securing five spots in Saturdays' finals in the process.
The four podium finishes were earned by Claire Bryant, Anthaya Charlton, Caleb Foster and Elise Thorner as they totaled one gold, two silver and one bronze during their performances on Friday.
Flomena Asekol, Parvej Khan, Wanya McCoy, Jenoah McKiver, Grace Stark and Joe Wester all qualified for the finals in their respective events courtesy of strong placements in the preliminary rounds.
The results and details from all final and preliminary events are outlined below.
FINALS RESULTS
Women's Long Jump
Claire Bryant and Anthaya Charlton showed out in the Women's Long Jump. For the second time in 2024, Bryant was named the SEC Champion in the event. The senior from Houston, Texas earned the gold medal by jumping a mark of 6.72m/22'0.75" which is identical to the mark she obtained to win the 2024 SEC Indoor Championship in the Long Jump.
Charlton, who has had an outstanding outdoor campaign, claimed the silver medal and obtained a mark of 6.59m/21'7.50". This is the second consecutive year that the Bahamas native has earned the SEC Outdoor Championship silver medal in the Long Jump.
Bryant and Charlton are the first teammates to finish first and second in the SEC Women's Outdoor Championship Long Jump since LSU's Myra Combs and Chenelle Marshall in 2001.
Kendall Brown competed in the Women's Long Jump Finals jumping a mark of 5.49m/18'0.25".
Men's Long Jump
Four Gators took part in the Men's Long Jump Finals: Malcolm Clemons, Sean Dixon-Bodie, Caleb Foster and MJ Holloway II.
Despite results from the event not being official at the time of release, as it currently stands, Foster has earned a bronze medal in the event with a mark of 7.80m/25'7.25". Malcolm Clemons and Sean Dixon-Bodie recorded fourth and sixth place finishes earning distances of 7.77m/25'6.0" and 7.57m/24'10". Currently, Holloway's mark is measured at 6.96m/22'10" and places him 13th in the event.
Women's 3000m
In her SEC Outdoor Championships debut, Elise Thorner snatched the 3000m Steeplechase silver medal as she laid down a time of 9:43.20 to end Friday's competition. She added eight points to the women's team total in the process.
Rylee Pustilnik concluded her Gators Track & Field career while competing in the event. She tallied a time of 10:39.36, earning herself a 10th place finish.
Men's Shot Put
Kai Chang and Logan Montgomery were the two Gator representatives in the Men's Shot Put finals. Chang recorded a mark of 17.62m/57'9.75" while Montgomery notched a toss of 16.63m/54'6.75".
Women's Shot Put
Alida van Daalen was the top Gator finisher in the Women's Shot Put as the sophomore from the Netherlands placed fourth with a mark of 17.93m/58'10". Gracelyn Leiseth notched her fourth personal record of the 2024 outdoor season during the competition as her best throw landed at 17.18m/56'4.50", placing her sixth.
PRELIMS RESULTS
Men's 110m Hurdles
Two Gators set season-best times in the Men's 110m H Prelims. Joey Stravato (11th) crossed the finish line recording a personal record time of 14.13, which marked the seventh time in 2024 he has hurdled his way to a personal best. Joshua Brockman notched his fastest time of the season at 13.82, securing tenth place.
Women's 100m Hurdles
Grace Stark had an excellent showing in the Women's 100m Hurdle Prelims, solidifying her bid to the Finals on Saturday. Stark navigated her way to second place with a time of 12.67. Jayla Hollis also competed in the event, pacing a time of 13.12, falling short by just 0.01 seconds of qualifying for the finals.
Men's 1500m
While it may have seemed like the race was coming down to the last stretch, Parvej Khan had no doubt in his mind that he would prevail in the end as he addressed the crowd before separating himself from the rest of the pack. The freshman phenom would cross the finish line with a time of 3:44.98, ultimately securing first and advancing to the Men's 1500m Finals on Saturday. Along with Khan, another Gator, Joe Wester qualified for the finals with a time of 3:46.62, placing eleventh. Michael Fiore also competed in the race finishing with a time of 3:53.92.
Women's 1500m
Flomena Asekol stole the show in the Women's 1500m Prelims, locking up first place with a time of 4.14.44. The athlete advanced her way to the finals, ultimately dominating the competition as she crossed the finish line five seconds faster than the runner-up.
Lucinda Rourke competed in the Women's 1500m Prelims recording a time of 4:39.46.
Men's 400m
The Gators had a handful of runners compete in the Men's 400m Prelims, including Jenoah Mckiver, who secured an auto-qualifying bid by placing first in his heat. He crossed the finish line in 45.75.
Other Florida participants include Reheem Hayles (45.72), Jevaughn Powell (46.01), Ashton Schwartzman (46.06), and Rios Prude Jr. (46.85).
Men's 100m
Wanya McCoy left his mark in the Men's 100m Prelims by placing No. 10 on Florida's All-Time Top 10 List, sprinting a time of 10.09. McCoy's pace secured an auto-bid to the finals and helped him place runner-up for the event.
Robert Gregory participated in the Men's 100m Prelims, striding across the finish line with a time of 10.25. Along with McCoy and Gregory, Malique Smith-Band also competed in the contest achieving a time of 10.50.
