Florida Volleyball Welcomes Oklahoma to the O’Dome for Wednesday Matchup

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida volleyball team returns to the O'Dome on Wednesday to face Oklahoma in the programs' first-ever conference meeting in Gainesville. The Gators will take the court in their black jerseys, as fans are encouraged to wear black for Wednesday's Blackout Match, presented by Cox.
The Sooners head to Gainesville looking to snap a three-match skid, with road losses to Georgia, No. 9 Texas A&M, and most recently No. 2 Texas. A win on Wednesday would allow Oklahoma to pull even with Florida in the SEC standings, where the Gators currently sit fifth in the league.

On Florida Volleyball:
- The Gators are coming off a competitive road stretch, splitting a pair of five-set matches at No. 16 Tennessee and No. 3 Kentucky. Florida handed the Lady Vols their first home loss of the season behind a standout performance from Jordyn Byrd, who recorded a career-high 26.5 points with 23 kills and five blocks. Setter Alexis Stucky notched double-doubles in both matches, directing the Gator offense to a .276 clip against Tennessee and finishing with 94 assists and 22 digs across the week. At Kentucky, Florida's defense limited the Wildcats to a .201 hitting percentage, their lowest in SEC play, while middle blocker Alec Rothe tied her career best with 14 kills and seven blocks.
- In SEC play, the Gators rank fifth in kills per set (13.50) and fifth in assists per set (12.28), with Alexis Stucky standing fourth individually in the league at 10.28 assists per set. Florida also sits sixth in both hitting percentage (.236) and opponent hitting percentage (.221).
- Defensively, the Gators rank fourth in digs per set (14.44). Freshman libero Lily Hayes appears in the conference standings as well, ranking eighth individually with 3.69 digs per set.
- The Sooners were voted to finish seventh in the SEC in the Coaches Preseason rankings and currently sit sixth in the league at 4-4.
- Oklahoma leads the SEC in blocks during conference play, averaging 3.06 per set. Junior KJ Burgess ranks third individually at 1.59 blocks per set.
- Burgess leads the SEC in hitting percentage, averaging a .447 mark in conference play, while ranking fourth nationally with a .458 season average. She stands as the highest-ranked Power Four athlete in the country.
- Senior Alexis Shelton was named to the preseason watch list for the AVCA 2025 Division I Player of the Year Award. The outside hitter leads the Sooners in kills and ranks ninth in the SEC with 4.28 kills and 4.52 points per set in league play.
- From the service line, Oklahoma averages 1.44 aces per set, ranking third in the SEC during conference play.
