GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Head Women's Basketball Coach Kelly Rae Finley announced today that the team had added Czech guard/forward Emilie Brzonova to its freshman class for 2026-27. Brzonova is currently playing for Faenza Basket Project in the Italian Serie A2 league. She also played with Stella Azzurra Roma in the Italian Serie A2 a year ago.
"Emilie is a tremendous addition to our program," said Finley. "Her competitiveness, discipline, and love for the game stand out in everything she does. She embodies the team-first mentality and the relentless work ethic that is in our locker room. We're thrilled to welcome her to Gator Nation!"
During her time with the Czech Republic's U18 National Team in 2024, Brzonova averaged 13.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while connecting on 48.0 percent of her three-pointers at the FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket 2024. Her play earned her a spot on the All-Star Five following the competition.
During the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship in 2022, Brzonova averaged 13.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists. She has also competed in the 2023 FIBA U18 Women's European Championship and the 2025 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup.
Brzonova's addition gives the Gators a trio of newcomers for 2026-27 as Arynn Finley and Kennedy Holman signed with Florida earlier this month.
