
Gators Home Winning Streak Comes to an End in 74-67 Loss to Tulsa

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Women's Basketball Team erased a 13-point fourth quarter deficit Sunday afternoon, but they couldn't quite close it out as Tulsa (8-4) finished the game on an 8-0 run. The loss dropped the Gators to 11-3 on the season, and snapped the team's 10-game home winning streak, and its 15-game non-conference home winning streak. Liv McGill led Florida with 19 points and nine assists in the defeat.

1st Quarter (Golden Hurricane 20, Gators 15)
- Tulsa led 12-11 with 3:08 to go in the first, and scored six of the next eight points to give the Golden Hurricane their largest lead of the period, 18-13. Tulsa made eight of 14 shots in the first, while Florida connected on seven of 20. The Gators outrebounded the Golden Hurricane 13-6, including 8-1 on the offensive glass. Tulsa's Mady Cartwright led all scorers with eight.
- Florida scored eight of the first 11 points in the second to tie the score at 23 forcing Tulsa to burn a timeout. Two-and-a-half minutes later, the Gators took the lead, 27-26, but it was short-lived as the Golden Hurricane scored 11 of the next 15 points. Florida went nine for 12 from the field, while Tulsa made just six of 16 shots. However, five of those six Golden Hurricane makes were from three-point range. McGill scored eight in the period to lead all scorers.
- It was a 43-39 Tulsa lead with 6:03 to go in the third, when the Golden Hurricane scored five straight, and 11 of the next 13 to push their advantage to 13, 54-31. Tulsa made six of 10 shots from the floor, including a pair of three balls, and netted another five points from the charity stripe. Florida went four of 13 from the field, and had 10 turnovers.
- Florida scored the first eight points of the quarter, to slice the deficit to three, 57-54. A few possessions later, the Gators tied the score at 60 on a Nidi Yiech layup with 4:21 to go in the game, and her triple with 2:19 on the clock gave Florida the lead, 65-64. The teams traded scores the next two trips down the floor, as Liv McGill's fast break layup with 1:51 made it 67-66 Gators. Those were the last points Florida would score, however, as Tulsa netted the final eight points of the game to secure the victory. Yiech scored 11 points in the quarter on three for three shooting from the floor, but here teammates combined to make just three of 12 shots.
- Tulsa went nine for 24 from beyond the arc, while the Gators made four of 16. Those nine made threes are the second most Florida has allowed to an opponent this season (Navy, 10 for 22 on Nov. 16, 2025)
- Florida committed 23 turnovers which Tulsa flipped into 32 points, while the Gators forced the Golden Hurricane into 19 miscues which Florida turned into 19 points.
- The Gators outrebounded Tulsa 43-22, including 20-9 on the offensive glass.
- Florida went 11 for 16 from the free throw line, while Tulsa made 17 of 28.
- The Gators outscored the Golden Hurricane 40-30 in the paint.
- Florida's bench outscored Tulsa's 17-6 as four of the five Golden Hurricane starters logged at least 32:58, and three played at least 35:20.
- Tulsa outscored the Gators 26-18 in fast break points.
- The Gators are now 1-2 all-time against Tulsa.
- Florida is now 33-4 at home in the months of November and December, and 14-2 in December, during the Kelly Rae Finley-era.
- Florida suffered its first home loss of the 2025-26 season, and had their streak of 15 consecutive home wins against non-conference opponents snapped, along with their 10-game overall home winning streak.
- The Golden Hurricane are the first team to score more than 70 points in a game against Florida this season.
- Liv McGill scored in double figures for the 15th straight game (19 points), and came up just shy of a point-assist double-double (nine assists).
- Nidi Yiech scored in double figures for the sixth time this season (11 points, all in the fourth quarter).
