Five women added their names to the program record books on Saturday.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Florida Gators Track and Field wrapped up the indoor regular season on Saturday at both the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston.
Both Groups had historically significant days, as an astounding 11 athletes delivered career-best performances, with five of those finding their way into the program's top-ten performance lists.
Highlights
Mid-Distance
The Gators saw multiple career performances in the 800m event. Haynes set a new personal best in the event at 2:05.02, which slots in at No. 7 in Florida's program history. The native of Barbados also leapt up to the No. 2 spot in her nation's history.
The group of Edward Kepran (1:48.89), Ryan Maseman (1:48.88), Miguel Pantojas (1:48.65) and Sam Austin (1:47.08) each posted their best performances of the season, with Kepran and Maseman setting new career-best times.
Distance
The Gators made three additions to the program's all-time top-10 performance lists in the distance events, with Beth Morley (4:26.76, 1 Mile), Tia Wilson (9:06.41, 3000m) and Reagan Gilmore (16:04.84 5000m) each setting personal bests. Morley's mile became the No. 2 performance in school history, while Wilson's efforts found the No. 4 slot behind an elite trio of Flomena Asekol, Hilda Olemomoi, and Parker Valby. Gilmore's time became the No. 6 mark in the event, and the first addition to the leaderboards for the freshman from Louisville, Ky.
At the Tyson Invitational, Breanna Stuart and Ashley Fitzgerald each set personal bests in the Mile.
Jumps
Asia Phillips, the talented freshman and emerging star in the triple jump, set a new personal best which broke into the program leaderboards at the No. 9 position. Her 13.32m effort is the 14th-best in the collegiate ranks this season, and the single best mark by a first-year competitor.
