ORLANDO, Fla. —  The Gators cruised to a 4-1 win over No. 27 South Florida on Saturday in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Men's Tennis Championships. Florida found success in doubles play and carried the momentum to singles play to achieve the win. UF will face No.15 UCF on Sunday at 12 p.m.

On the doubles side, ranked pair No. 15 Tanapatt Nirundorn and Henry Jefferson finished first defeating Hugo Car and Stepan Mruzek 6-2. Adhithya Ganesan and Jeremy Jin followed securing the point with a 6-2 win over Ben Hudson and Toto Llanes.

The Gators kept their momentum in singles with Jefferson earning the second point. Jefferson faced Gughi Verdese and quickly logged a 6-4, 6-3 victory. The Bulls responded with a point on court six. Llanes defeated Niels Villard 6-3, 6-2 and closed in on UF's lead.

Edengren battled Mruzek on court five with both sets going into a tiebreak. Edengren took the first set 7-6 (7-4). The second set was tight, but Edengren outlasted Mzruek and secured the 7-5 victory putting Florida within reach of the win.

The fourth point was sealed on court one featuring No. 41 Ganesan and No. 66 Car. The battle was close in the first set, but Ganesan took the win 7-5. Car regrouped in the second and defeated the Gator sophomore 6-4. Ganesan clinched the match quickly earning a 6-3 victory.

The Opponents 
No. 15 UCF enter Sunday's match 22-8 overall and is coming off a 5-0 win against Miami on Saturday. The Knights have two nationally ranked singles players: No. 63 Yassine Dlimi and No. 84 Mehdi Benchakroun. The Knights are also represented in doubles rankings by No. 55 Liam Branger and Paul Colin.
