Gators Alum JanMagnus Johnson Wins Inaugural UTR Sports Summer Championships

Spring 2025 Gator grad JanMagnus Johnson won the 2025 UTR Sports Summer Championships.  

San Diego, Calif. – JanMagnus Johnson competed in the 2025 UTR Sports Summer Championships, the first of its kind, over the holiday weekend. The tournament consisted of a guaranteed five matches with the best overall record taking the championship win.

Johnson came out of the tournament with a 5-0 match record and a set record of (8-1). Johnson faced off against Elias Shokry in the first round winning in two sets 6-3 and 6-4, and was supposed to face off against Carter Pate in the second round but Pate unfortunately had to retire before the end of the first set. In round three, Johnson competed against Landon Ardila going 6-3, 3-6 and 6-2 two win two sets to one. The fourth round brought Johnson against Calvin Baierl who he defeated in two sets (6-3 and 6-2), and in the fifth round Johnson faced off against Miles Jones, who is ranked No. 847 by the ATP, and won 6-2 and 7-6(2).

Winning the 2025 UTR Sports Summer Championships provides Johnson with a great platform to launch his pro career after going 32-4 in the seven tournaments he has competed in this summer.
