
McGill Scores 1,000th Career Point, but Gators Drop 60-50 Decision to Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. — The Florida Women's Basketball Team (12-7, 0-4) led 45-44 with 6:31 remaining Sunday afternoon in Auburn, but the lid went on the Gators' basket over the next four-plus minutes, and the Tigers (12-6, 1-3) put together an 9-0 run to give them a lead they would never relinquish. Sophomore point guard Liv McGill became the 30th player in program history to score 1,000 points in her career when she connected on a free throw line jumper in the second quarter. She finished with a game-high tying 14 points, and now has 1,008 points for her career.

1st Quarter (Tigers 16, Gators 8)
- Auburn scored the first six points of the game, and extended its lead to as many as 10 late in the first. The Tigers made seven of 15 shots from the field, while the Gators made three of 13. Harissoum Coulibaly led all scorers with six points.
- A Tigers triple to start the second extended their lead to a game-high 11, but the Gators scored the next 13 in a row to go up 27-19. Included in the streak was a Liv McGill free throw line jumper with 5:05 to go that marked the 1,000th point of her career. McGill became the 30th player in program history to reach that mark. Auburn scored the final four points of the quarter. McGill's seven points led all scorers and matched the Tigers' output for the period. Florida went eight for 13 from the floor, while Auburn made just two of 12 shots from the field.
- It was a 29-27 Florida advantage with 7:04 to go in the third when Auburn scored seven straight points to regain the lead, 34-29. It was still a five-point Tigers' advantage with 4:10 on the clock, but the Gators scored the next eight to go back on top. Liv McGill picked up her fourth foul with 3:04 to go in the period, and sat for the remainder of the third.
- Florida still led by one, 45-44, with 6:31 remaining when the Tigers scored nine straight to go up eight, 53-45. McGill was on the bench for the first 5:03 of the period having picked up her fourth foul late in the third. Auburn made six of 12 shots from the field, while the Gators went three for 12. Florida also had six turnovers in the quarter, compared to one for the Tigers.
- Auburn committed 11 turnovers which the Gators flipped into six points, while the Tigers forced Florida into 19 miscues which Auburn turned into 23 points.
- The Gators made 38.0% of their field goal attempts (19-50), while the Tigers made 40.7% of theirs (22-54).
- Auburn outscored Florida 13-7 in fast break points.
- Florida's bench outscored the Tigers' bench 21-5.
- The Gators are now 27-41* all-time against Auburn.

- Liv McGill's free throw line jumper in the first quarter gave her 1,000 points for her career, becoming the 30th player in program history to reach the mark. She finished with 14 points, and now has 1,008 in her career. She is the second sophomore in Florida history to reach the mark (Tammy Jackson '85), and the third fastest to do so having reached it in her 54th game (51 games, Tammy Jackson '85; 53 games, Quientella Bonner '81).
- Me'Arah O'Neal scored in double figures for the 13th time this season (11 points).
- Liv McGill scored in double figures for the 20th straight game (14 points).
- Florida held Auburn to just eight points in the second quarter. That is the 11th time this season that the Gators have held an opponent under 10 points in a period.
- The Gators are now 12-1 when leading at the half (Led 27-23. Lost 60-50).
