AUBURN, Ala. – The Gators Men's Tennis team opens conference play with a 1-6 loss to No. 30 Auburn on the road. The dual consisted of several close three-set matches and tie breaks, but ultimately the Tigers took the win.
The Gators started from behind after losing the doubles point with losses from Pablo Perez Ramos and Tanapatt Nirundorn on court two and No. 89 Lorenzo Claverie and Henry Jefferson on court one. Claverie and Jefferson faced the No. 20 ranked Billy and Freddy Blaydes, going to a tie break but where ultimately outlasted by the brothers going 6-7(4-7). The pairing of Kevin Edengren and Andreas Timini did see success on the doubles court, earning a 6-3 win over Alan Bojarski and Jake Kennedy to improve their doubles record to 5-0.
Florida was unable to shift the momentum in their favor at the Yarbrough Tennis Center for singles, with five of the six courts falling to the Tigers. Claverie on court three and Timini on court six gave the Tigers an early 3-0 lead falling in two sets to Nicholas Heng and No. 84 Manel Lazaro.
