GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The United States Basketball Writers Association announced today that Florida sophomore point guard Liv McGill was named to USBWA All-America Honorable Mention Team following a record-breaking season that saw her set the Gators' single-season scoring record while leading the team to its fifth consecutive winning season.
The Minneapolis, Minn. native has been racking up honors, awards and notable statistical achievements throughout the entirety of the 2025-26 season beginning with a preseason All-SEC Second Team nod in October.
Over the first two games of the regular season McGill put the basketball world on notice, scoring 64 points, grabbing 17 rebounds, handing out 19 assists and picking up 12 steals. Per OptaStats, "the only other NBA, WNBA or Division I men's or women's player this century to have 60/15/15/10 in those categories over a 2-game span was Dwayne Wade from February 28-March 2, 2009."
McGill was named the USBWA National Player of the Week, and SEC Player of the Week for those early-season performances, and later was named the Grand Cayman Classic most outstanding player after averaging 27.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4,0 assists, 2.00 steals and 1.00 blocked shots during her two games in the Thanksgiving week tournament.
McGill's play during the season earned her a spot on the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Award mid-season top-10 list, and she finished the season averaging 22.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 2.58 steals. She was also named to the All-SEC First Team at the conclusion of the regular season.
Through games of Monday, March 16, McGill ranks ninth in the nation in scoring, ninth in assists, and 45th in steals. She is one of only two players in the nation averaging at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists (Hannah Hidalgo, Notre Dame, 25.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 5.3 apg)
During the regular season, McGill ranked second in the SEC in scoring, fourth in assists, eighth in steals, 23rd in rebounding, and first in minutes (37.1 mpg). Per Sports-Reference.com, she produced the second most points in the conference, ranks second in points produced per game, and third in assist percentage.
This season, McGill became the 28th player in Florida's program history to crack the 1,000-point barrier, and she finished the year in 20th place on the team's career scoring chart with 1,308 points. In just two seasons in orange and blue, she also ranks first in Gators' history in career scoring average (19.2 ppg), 13th in career assists (357), and tied for 17th in career steals (156).
