Turner two back of lead, Gutschewki shoots 67 in day two of Southern Highlands

No. 3 Florida are in fifth-place through two rounds.
LAS VEGAS - The No. 3 Florida men's golf team concluded day two of the Southern Highlands Collegiate, highlighted by freshman Trevor Gutschewski's 67 (-5) on Monday at Southern Highlands Golf Club.
Through 36-holes the Gators are in fifth-place with a tournament score of 538 (+2) and conclude the tournament tomorrow. Two more regular season events remain - Pauma Valley Invitational (March 16-18) & Calusa Cup (April 5-7) - before the SEC Championship from April 22-26 at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga.
Gutschewski's 67 was two-shots better than his previous season and career-low (69) he recorded four times this season. He made eight birdies in his round, including five on the back nine alone to total 10 across two rounds, which are second most in the field. The freshman climbed 43 spots into T19 as the round of 67 was tied for the low round today and second overall.
Turning in back-to-back rounds under par, Jack Turner shot a 1-under 71 for his team-leading 12th round of par and better. In seven rounds this spring, seven have been under par. He is also tied with Gutschewski at 10 birdies made. Turner sits tied for third and two shots back of the solo lead.
Matthew Kress had a round two of 74 (+2) followed by the next two counting scores of Parker Sands and Zack Swanwick, who both carded a 75 (+3). Noah Kent rounded out the lineup with an 81 (+9).
