NCAA Championships Semifinal Action Next for No. 3 Gators
Tuesday, April 14, 2026 | Gymnastics
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The moment the No. 3 Florida gymnastics team has been working toward all season has arrived. The NCAA Championships are here, and the Gators are ready to take center stage.
Semifinal competition begins Thursday at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, where Florida will compete in the afternoon session. That semifinal airs live at 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2. With a top-two finish, the Gators can secure a spot in Saturday's team final, set for 4 p.m. ET on ABC.
The Gators are making their 42nd appearance in the NCAA Championships - the most of any team in this year's field. Florida has advanced to the national final in 17 of its last 20 appearances, which includes national titles in 2013, a shared crown in 2014 and another championship in 2015.
Who's in the Field?
The road to the title now runs through the high-stakes "Four on the Floor" format, introduced in 2019 and now in its seventh year. This year, six of the top eight seeds advanced to Fort Worth, joined by No. 9 Arkansas and No. 13 Minnesota - marking the third straight season that two teams outside the top eight have crashed the championship field.
2014 was the first season the seeding determined at the time of regional selections was maintained throughout the championships. The seeds held through regional competition twice (2015, 2021) in the 12 years under this format.
NCAA Semifinal I Info:
Three in the opening semifinal have won NCAA team titles: Georgia (10 – 2009 most recent), Florida (3 – 2015 most recent) and LSU (1 – 2024).
For the second straight year, Southeastern Conference teams make up five of the eight 2026 NCAA Championships berths – Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma. That matches the league high since the Four on the Floor format began in 2019 (previous high: 4 in 2024 and 2022).
All the teams in semifinal I have posted team totals of 198-plus in 2026. Both Florida and LSU have reached 198 six times this season with Georgia and Stanford each posting one 198 score.
