GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Head Women's Basketball Coach Tammi Reiss announced today that 6-1 TCU guard Taliyah Parker has signed with the Gators.
"I'm so happy to welcome Taliyah to our Gators family," said Reiss. "She is an incredible athlete on both sides of the ball, and possesses speed, size and length. She has an explosive first step and has the ability to really attack the rim. Taliyah is a three-level scorer with the ability to face up and play with her back to the basket. She is fantastic in transition with her speed and explosiveness, and a very intelligent, hard-working, team oriented, competitive young woman. Taliyah brings such a positive light and energy to any room she walks into. I'm thrilled that I get to coach her and help her find her joy and the success she is looking for on the court."
A rising junior, Parker saw action in 20 games last season for the Horned Frogs as they went 32-6 and advanced to the Elite 8 before falling to South Carolina. TCU won the Big 12 regular season championship with a 15-3 mark, and finished the year ranked sixth in the nation.
Parker spent her freshman season at Texas A&M where she saw action in 21 games averaging 5.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists and a team-leading 1.05 steals while shooting a team-best 32.6 percent from beyond the arc. She was also named to the 2024-25 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.
The Grand Prairie, Texas native scored a career-high 14 points vs. Syracuse on Dec. 4, 2024, and has grabbed a career-high five rebounds on three occasions. Parker's four assists vs. Western Michigan on Nov. 10, 2024 are a career-best, as are her four steals at LSU on Jan. 26, 2025.
While at South Grand Prairie High School, Parker was rated the No. 60 player in the nation, and no. 6 in Texas by espnW 2024 HoopGurlz after leading her team to the 2024 UIL 6A State Championship game and a 33-4 record. She was as a Class 6A All-State selection by the Texas Associations of Basketball Coaches as a senior after averaging 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists during senior season. Parker also participated in the 2021 USA Basketball Women's U16 Team Trials.
