GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Head Women's Basketball Coach Tammi Reiss announced today that the team has signed Penn State sharp-shooter Moriah Murray. The Dunmore, Pa. native comes to Gainesville following three seasons with the Lady Lions where she was among the best three-point shooters in the nation, knocking down 38.0 percent of her shots from distance over her career to date.
"I'm so excited to have Moriah Murray join our Gators family," said Reiss. "She is first and foremost a culture young woman with high character, integrity and moral compass. Moriah is hard-working, and will do everything in her power to win and help her teammates be successful.
"She is an elite, efficient shooter with incredible range and one of the quickest releases I have ever seen. Moriah will really fit our offensive system, and help spread the floor for us. She is an excellent transition player, and hunts her shot on the break. I'm excited for Moriah to grow her game and showcase her ability to maneuver ball screens and get to her mid-range game. She will bring a wealth of knowledge, high-basketball IQ and experience at the P4 level to our team next season."
As a junior last season, Murray finished third on the team in scoring (9.4 ppg) and assists (2.1 apg), and collected nearly a steal per game while ranking 43rd in the country in three-point field goal percentage (.398, 76 of 191).
