AS A FRESHMAN (2015): Played in 42 games and made 29 games during his first season at Florida…Missed the Gators’ first 16 games while recovering from a broken hand…Had 14 starts in right field, 11 at first base and four at designated hitter…Batted .339 with 20 RBI, 15 walks, 11 runs, seven doubles and a pair of homers…Chipped in with 10 multiple-hit games and six multiple-RBI efforts…Had a .319 clip in 21 SEC games and started 12 contests…Totaled eight RBI, drew seven walks, scored four runs and had a pair of homers and doubles…Turned in a .378 (14-for-37) average during the postseason, including .476 (10-for-21) during the NCAA Tournament…Laced a two-run double down the right-field line in the fifth inning as the Gators eliminated No. 8 Miami (FL) from the NCAA College World Series…Was 3-for-3 during the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional sweep of No. 10 Florida State and collected three walks…Started all three games of the NCAA Gainesville Regional and was 6-for-12 (.500)…Was 2-for-5 with a double and a run against USF after going 3-for-3 with a pair of runs and an RBI single in the shutout of Florida A&M…Helped the Gators emerge victorious in the SEC Tournament Championship Game with a couple of RBI singles against No. 9 Vanderbilt…Came through with a pinch-hit single with two down in the ninth inning at Georgia to snap a 2-2 tie and plate Richie Martin with the winning run…Stroked a two-run, pinch-hit single in the ninth inning of the second meeting with Kentucky…Was 2-for-3 with a two-run single in the opening stanza of the series opener with No. 21 South Carolina…Went 3-for-7 (.429) over the final two games of the Alabama set, including homers in consecutive games...Helped the Gators to victory at Ole Miss by going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs…Ripped a two-run double in the first inning versus No. 11 Florida State on St. Patrick’s Day and added another two-bagger in the fifth and scored…Was 3-for-4 in the finale with Tennessee after poking a pinch-hit double in the eighth inning of game two against the Vols…Singled in his first career at bat versus Fairfield and scored on a two-run single by Josh Tobias.
SUMMER: Played for the Kenosha (Wis.) Kingfish of the Northwoods League, which claimed the 2015 NWL Summer Collegiate World Series…Had a .290 average in 39 regular-season games, with 31 RBI, 22 walks, 21 runs, eight doubles and three homers…Hit .353 (6-for-17) as the Kingfish was perfect through the postseason and was 4-for-9 (.444) with four runs in the sweep of the St. Cloud Rox in the finals…Had consecutive three-hit efforts in a road sweep of Battle Creek…Boasted an eight-game hitting streak from July 4-10 in which he was 10-for-33 (.303)…Clubbed a grand slam in a shutout of Lakeshore…Was 3-for-6 in his second game of the summer.
HIGH SCHOOL: First baseman/outfielder from Martin County High School who played for head coach Jerry Smith…Named the 2014 Florida Dairy Farmers Player of the Year for Class 7A and as the Scripps Newspapers Treasure Coast Newspapers All-Area Player of the Year…Batted .524 with a .617 on-base percentage and also led his squad in RBI (37), runs (31), doubles (15) and homers (four)…Owns the highest batting average in school history…Also fired a four-hitter as the Tigers stunned Gulf Coast, 5-1, in the Region 3-7A quarterfinal for the school’s first regional playoff win in eight years…Named first-team all-area all four seasons with the Tigers…Vasquez was a second-team Preseason All-American and was named to the Florida All-Region First Team by Rawlings/Perfect Game prior to his senior year…Ranked No. 27 in the state of Florida and No. 1 among first basemen in the Class of 2014 Final Rankings from Perfect Game…Checked in at No. 114 overall and was the No. 3 first baseman nationally according to Perfect Game…Participated in the 2013 USA U-18 National Team Trials…Chosen as a first-team Preseason Underclassmen All-American by Perfect Game prior to his junior campaign and was a third-team choice before his sophomore season…Hit .490 as a freshman.
