WHAT THEY ARE SAYING
โDeonte has grabbed me, and put me under his wing. Thatโs the only person I really hang around with, we do everything together. Thatโs like my older brother. He teaches me route running, adjusting to the ball, just different things as a receiver.โ (8/19/11)
Quinton Dunbar, UF wide receiver
โFrankie Hammond has been our most consistent receiver. Quinton Dunbar and Deonte Thompson have been our most vertical threats and big play guys down the field. Frankie, consistently, has been our best receiver as far as catching the ball, finishing plays, blocking and all-around receiver play. Deonte and Quinton have been the ones who have made the big plays for our offense. Those would be our top three guys as of now.โ (8/8/11)
Will Muschamp, UF Head Coach
โI have a lot of confidence in Deonte and these other receivers to be where they need to be. He knows I have his back and I always will. I know thatโs all that matters to him is what his teammates and coaches think about him. We all still have faith in him.โ (7/20/11)
John Brantley, UF quarterback
"Heโs been here for a while, but heโs still coming on. Heโs a great guy that works extremely hard and heโs got talent." (11/20/10)
Urban Meyer, former UF Head Coach
ย
"Iโm really fired up about Deonte Thompson. Heโs showing tremendous leadership and making plays. I like what heโs about out there. Heโs a major factor in developing great chemistry in that room.โ (9/29/10)
Steve Addazio, former UF Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach and current Temple Head Coach
โI love Deonte and Iโm rooting for Deonte. Heโs a great ambassador of our program. Heโs a great kid. Anything I ask him to do, he does. What I donโt want to do is put too much on his plate. I want Deonte to be Deonte and keep getting better. I need to get him better and not rely so much on him getting this group better.โ (8/14/10)
Zach Azzanni, former UF Wide Receivers Coach
โWe talk every day. He deserves it [chance to play]. Heโs what you look for. A very talented guy whoโs not complaining, not whining, just wants to get better.โ (9/27/07)
Urban Meyer, former UF Head Coach
โI love that guy. Heโs a worker. He just works and works and works and you can see the player development going on right before your eyes. Fast guy, too.โ (9/27/07)
Urban Meyer, former UF Head Coach
"In regards to the class, we are very pleased. The guy that kind of knocked it over the edge right at the
end was Deonte Thompson. We got him out of South Florida, which is a tough place to get guys. So I am very pleased with our recruiting class." (2/7/07)
Urban Meyer, former UF Head Coach
