A high scoring guard that bolsters the Gators' perimeter attack, Powell has tremendous range on his jumper… The Player of the Year for the city of Memphis, Powell guided his team to a 31-6 mark his senior year and a 31-5 mark his junior year… With his ability to defend on the perimeter, run the floor well in transition, and knock down open jumpers, Powell is a perfect fit for the Gators' style of play… .
PREP: Averaged 18.6 points per game, 6.1 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game for Mitchell High School during his senior year… He was an All-State selection and the Player of the Year for the city of Memphis in both his junior and senior years… He left Mitchell High School as the school's all-time leader in three-pointers… Hit 12 three-pointers in one game during his senior season, a game in which he scored a career-high 44 points… Lists one of the top highlights of his high school career as dunking on a 6-10 opponent… Experienced tremendous success at Mitchell, as his team won 107 games over his four years....PERSONAL: Born June 17, 1987… One of 10 children (he has six brothers and three sisters).
