National/International Competition
Swam at the 2009 U.S. Open in Federal Way, Wash., finishing 45th in the 200 fly (2:04.62)… Recorded a 16:07.84 in the 1,500-meter free (70th) at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials … Finished 33rd at the 2008 U.S. Open in the 1500-meter freestyle (16:09.93) … Competed in the 400-meter free at the 2006 ConocoPhillips U.S. Nationals, clocking a time of 4:02.71 … Also turned in a time of 15:58.73 in the 1,500-meter free.
At Florida
2008-09: A 2009 SEC Academic Honor Roll selection… Swam career-best marks across the board in all of his events his junior season with the Gators… Had a career-best meet at the 2009 Florida Swimming Senior Championships, swimming a 1:41.64 200 free, clocking a 4:28.46 500 free, while also racing to personal bests in the 200 fly (1:50.01) and 400 IM (3:58.74)… Represented Florida at the 2008 Princeton Big Al Invitational… Placed eighth in the 500 free (4:28.47) and mile (15:32.00) and 12th in the 400 IM (4:01.04) at the invitational hosted by the Tigers… Also swam a 1:42.16 in prelims of the 200 free and in a relay in Princeton… Swam in a total of nine dual meets and invitationals for UF his redshirt junior campaign and rounded out the dual meet season on a high note for the Gators with a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard free (9:22.55), a new career best.
2007-08: Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for his work in the classroom … Took fourth in the 1,000 free (9:24.69) in the win over LSU … Finished fourth in the 500 free (4:33.58) versus Florida State … Earned a seventh-place finish in the 1,650 free (15:56.57) at Purdue’s Boilermaker Invitational … Touched the wall third in the 1,000 free (9:27.56) and fourth in the 500 free (4:41.81) in the road defeat of Kentucky … Took fifth in the 1,650 free (15:53.27) in the road victory over Minnesota … Finished eighth in the 200 fly with a career-best time of 1:54.10 in the season-opening win over Virginia.
2006-07: SEC Academic Honor Roll selection … Took more than nine seconds off of his previous career best in the 1,650 free en route to a second-place finish against FAU with a time of 1:38.24 … Placed fourth in both the 500 free (4:30.94) and 400 IM (4:02.55) in the win over Tennessee … Both times against the Vols represented career bests … Touched fourth in the 500 free (4:34.03) in the win over Indian River CC … Shaved more than 10 seconds off of his personal best in the 1,650 free against Virginia, placing seventh with a time of 15:47.35 … Finished 14th in the 1,650 free (15:57.64), 21st in the 500 free (4:34.76) and 24th in the 400 IM (4:09.42) at the Texas Invitational … Also competed in the 200 free (1:45.64) while in Austin … Posted a career-best 9:27.95 in the 1,000 free against Florida State, finishing fifth … Placed seventh in both the 500 (4:45.07) and 1,000 free (9:41.52) versus Minnesota) … Finished fifth in the 1,000 free (9:33.60) and seventh in the 200 fly (1:57.53) against Georgia … Placed fifth in both the 500 (4:42.76) and 1,000 free (9:28.83) against LSU … Made his collegiate debut in the win over Michigan, collecting seventh-place finishes in the 1,000 free (9:34.51) and 200 fly (1:56.21).
