National/ International Competition: Finished in fifth place in 1,500m freestyle event at U.S. Open, with time of 15:35.35...placed first in both the 400 and 1500m free events at 1998 Center American Games (1500 - 3:58.88 and 400 - 15.42), breaking Center American Games record...came in first in 1500m free at 1998 U.S. Open, touching the wall in 15:03, breaking U.S. Open Record...posted personal best time and placed third at 1999 Pan Am Games in 1500m free, placing third with time of 15:28.64...placed 20th in 1500m free at 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta with time of 15:42...finished 24th at '96 Olympics with time of 4:00 in 400m free...also competed in 1995 and 1997 World Championships as well as 1996 South American Games.
1999-2000: Florida's premier distance freestyle swimmer...at NCAA Championships, earned Honorable Mention All-America status by finishing 11th in the 1,500m Free with a time of 15:07.70 and placing 10th in the 400m Free with a time of 3:46.48...at SEC Championships, took the gold medal in the 1,650 free with automatic qualifying time of 14:59.41, 14.22 seconds ahead of his closest competitor...placed third in 500 free, touching the wall in 4:21.35...took first place five different events (400m free, 500y free, 1,000y free, 1,500m free, 1,650 free) at least once during the season.
Prior to Florida: Swam for two years at Indian River Community College...1999 Most Valuable Swimmer...won sport Achievement Award for 1999...Indian River has won 26 consecutive national junior college championships.
