2018-19, Redshirt-Junior Season
2015-16, Freshman Season (Sante Fe)
Prep
- After missing the entire 2017-18 season with a torn ACL, Staples saw her first action as a Gator in 2018-19.
- Spent her first two seasons of eligibility at nearby Sante Fe College.
- Received a full-scholarship in a surprise unveiling this past summer. The team staged the event as a recruiting scavenger hunt but it culminated with Corey being awarded a scholarship by Coach Newbauer.
- Three-point marksmen and strong defender.
2018-19, Redshirt-Junior Season
- Finished the season averaging 0.6 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.2 assists.
- Earned first career start vs. Bethune-Cookman, scoring her first Division I points on a corner three.
- Started her second-straight game as she earned the nod against FAMU and logged a season-best 21 minutes.
- Against FAMU, scored a season-best eight points on 3-of-8 shooting from the floor.
- The reserve guard appeared in 23 games and earned two starting nods.
- Received a medical redshirt for the 2017-18 season.
- Tore left ACL on first day of official practice for 2017-18.
- Underwent surgery on Oct. 25, 2017 in Gainesville.
- Earned a spot on SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
- Averaged 12.4 points and five rebounds.
- Second leading scorer on the team.
- Totaled 139 rebounds and 80 assists, while starting 25 of 28 games.
- Helped lead the Saints to a Mid-Florida Conference Championship and a 19-11 record overall.
- The season culminated with a loss in the FCSAA Semifinals.
- Individual Honors: Mid-Florida Second Team All-Conference.
2015-16, Freshman Season (Sante Fe)
- Averaged 5.8 points per game and 3.9 rebounds per game
- Helped guide her squad to a 15-14 record and FCSAA First Round appearance.

- Graduated from Buford High School in May of 2015.
- Individual Honors: Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All State Team (2015), Gwinnett County All-Star Team (2015), North Georgia All-Star Team(2015), 7 AAA First Team Region 2014, 8AAAA First Team Region 2015, Farm Bureau All State Tournament First Team (2014), Gwinnett County Tip Off Club 2013, 2014, 2015 and Academic A/B honor roll all four years.
- Team: Georgia 4A state champions (2015), Georgia 3A state runner-up (2014), 60-6 record for Junior and Senior campaign, Region Champions all 4 years, 81-0 in region play all 4 years.
- Coached at Buford HS by Gene Durden.

- Significant Gator lineage:
- Brother, Matthew, graduated from UF in spring of 2017.
- Michael Brandon (stepfather) played football at UF from 1988-91 and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts.
- Pamela Stone (cousin) was a Gator basketball letterwinner from 1981-83.
- Nina (Foster) McGrew (cousin) was an All-American volleyball player at UF from 1996-97.
- Reggie McGrew (cousin) played football at UF from 1996-98 and was a first-round draft pick by the San Francisco 49ers.
- Leon (Pat) Miller (cousin) played football from 1982-85 before being drafted by the San Diego Chargers.
- Turned down more than four Division I scholarship offers out of high school to play for Santa Fe in hopes of being able to one day walk-on to UF..
- Member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority, Inc. (Spring 2018).
- Set Buford H.S. record in the triple jump at 37-1.5” and finished third at the state meet as a 10th grader.
- Played softball from age 4 until eighth grade and won two little league world series championships.
- Most exciting event she can recall was watching her nephew being born.
