Owen Field

Owen Field is the Gators Associate Head Coach / General Manager who is in his 11th season with Florida in 2025-26. He was elevated to Associate Head Coach in the summer of 2024 and became the first in collegiate gymnastics to add G.M. title in the summer of 2025.

This is a dual capacity leadership role combining high-level technical coaching responsibilities with strategic oversight of areas including NIL education, database systems, analytics and student-athlete development initiatives.

Field’s Coaching Career:
At Florida:
A national high four NCAA uneven bars titles since 2016 were claimed by Gators - Bridget Sloan (2016), Alex McMcMurtry (2017), Trinity Thomas (2022) and Leanne Wong (2024). The Gators' lineup is a regular among the nation’s top four uneven bars rankings, including making appearances at No. 1 in four of the last seven seasons.

McMurtry was the nation’s only gymnast to turn in multiple 10.0 bars marks in 2016 and she added two more in 2017 – including in the NCAA Super Six team final. She was nearly perfect again in 2018 NCAA Super Six action with her fifth 9.975 bars mark of the season. Trinity Thomas earned her first collegiate 10.0 on the uneven bars in 2020 and twice found perfection on the event in 2021. Her postseason 10.0s in 2022 (NCAA Regionals) and 2023 (SEC Championships) completed ‘Season Slams’ (10.0 in each apparatus). Florida was the nation’s only program with multiple gymnasts earning uneven bars 10.0s in 2023 (Kayla DiCello-2, Thomas-1 and Leanne Wong-2) and 2025 (Riley McCusker and Wong – 1 each).  

Florida set the all-time uneven bars high of 49.85 at the 2025 Southeastern Conference Championships. All marks used toward the record total were 9.95 or better, including 10.0s by both McCusker and Wong.

Ten Gators collected 18 uneven bars All-America honors in NCAA Championships competition since 2016 .

Field shared the 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2025 WCGA Region 5 Assistant Coach of the Year honor with Adrian Burde and Jeremy Miranda (2025).

At Nebraska:
Before joining Florida, Field was with the University of Nebraska women’s gymnastics program, serving roles as manager or volunteer coach during his six years with the Huskers. When he was a volunteer coach, Field worked alongside head coach Dan Kendig to coach the Huskers’ on uneven bars. He also assisted with the Huskers' strength and conditioning program.

While Field was with Nebraska, the Huskers advanced to the NCAA Championships four times (2015, 2014, 2012, 2010), reaching the Super Six in 2014. Nebraska gymnastics picked up a total of 12 All-America honors in either uneven bars or all-around while Field was with the Huskers. A Husker won conference bars titles in 2012, 2013 and 2015.

Field also served as Southern Utah’s volunteer coach for the 2011 season.

Field was the club coach at UNL, the Nebraska School of Gymnastics, and was a coach at the Southern Utah Gymnastics Academy. Field has coached at several gymnastics camps, including Lake Owen Gymnastics Camp, Flipfest and Woodward Gymnastics Camp. 

Personal:
Field received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Nebraska in 2015.

He was born in Sheboygan, Wis., on July 11, 1990. Field and Makayla Thompson married in May of 2022.Â
