Melissa Pini (Plantation, Fla.) each added a second-half insurance goal to ensure the win for UF, while freshman goalkeepers

Lynn Pattishall (Coral Springs, Fla.) split halves to earn a combined shutout.
"Today's game was a great soccer atmosphere and a great way to kickoff the first year of soccer at Florida," said UF Head Coach
Becky Burleigh. "We were happy to get our first win today against Florida State, but we have a lot of progress to make and a lot more games to play starting with a very good team, Central Florida, tomorrow."
