UF'S O'NEAL FALLS IN SINGLES FINAL AT REGION III CHAMPIONSHIPS

ATHENS, Ga. -- University of Florida senior Justin O'Neal lost to LSU's 21st-ranked Tom Hand in the singles final of the ITA Region III Indoor Championships Sunday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Georgia.
O'Neal, the second seed who is rated 10th in the ITA preseason rankings, was defeated by a 6-2, 7-5 score by the fourth-seeded Hand. Despite the loss, O'Neal has received an automatic berth to the 2000 Rolex National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, which will be hosted by Southern Methodist University and Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas, Texas from Feb. 3-6.
