Gators Solid in Qualifying Singles at USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championship

GAINESVILLE, Fla.- The University of Florida men's tennis team had four members competing in the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional singles qualifying draw on Thursday.
The Gators got off to a quick start at the Ring Tennis Complex on Thursday morning as Jordan Belga was able to defeat Kennesaw State's Slade in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. In the round of 32, senior Maxx Lipman got his first singles victory of the fall campaign with a win over De Meo of UNF, 6-1, 6-2. McClain Kessler defeated Boudaroua of FAU handedly, 6-1, 6-0 to move on to the next round of singles. Redshirt sophomore Josh Wardell was victorious against Stetson's Julin, 6-1, 6-1. Belga competed against Whitehurst of FSU in a three set match. The sophomore battled back in the match but ultimately fell in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
UF continues play tomorrow morning with players competing in the final round of singles qualifying and the singles main draw.
