Gator Doubles Tandem Advance to Quarterfinals at National Indoors

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The University of Florida men's tennis doubles tandem of Diego Hidalgo and Gordon Watson advanced in the doubles draw to the quarterfinals on Thursday at the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships.
The Billie Jean King National Tennis Center saw the doubles pairing cruise in their match against Cash and Kadhe of Oklahoma State. The Gator duo was able to defeat the No. 14-ranked pairing, 6-3, 6-2. In singles action, Hidalgo fell to Virginia Tech's Joao Monteiro. The No. 70-ranked Hokie defeated the No. 23-ranked Gator, 7-6(6), 6-3.
The duo will continue doubles play tomorrow in Flushing, N.Y.
Coach Scott Perelman on today's matches:
"Diego (Hidalgo) had a tough singles match today. I was pleased with the way he came back for the doubles match. He and Gordon (Watson) played very well to beat an excellent Oklahoma State team. We are all looking forward to tomorrow's competition."
