No. 10/3 Gators Prepared for Loaded SEC Indoor Championships Field
Thursday, February 25, 2016 | Track and Field
Florida's men are looking to repeat, while its women are pursuing a fourth title in a seven-year stretch
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Florida track and field program is chasing much more than times this week (Feb. 26-27) at the SEC Indoor Championships. In addition to finalizing individual spots for the NCAA Indoor Championships, both Gator teams are eyeing their ninth indoor SEC titles.
Florida's men captured the program's eighth crown a year ago, scoring 114 points en route to its first title since 2011. This year the No. 10 Gators are looking to join the 1975-76 and 1987-88 teams as the only other squads in program history to win the event in consecutive seasons.
UF's women last won the title in 2014, which marked its third SEC Indoor Championships victory in a five-year span, as it also won it in 2010 and 2012. The third-ranked Gators earned runner-up honors at the 2015 SEC Indoor Championships, finishing 44 points behind Arkansas in the team standings.
Both conference fields are loaded, headlined by six top-10 teams on the men's side and four women's teams ranked eighth or higher in the latest USTFCCCA National Team Computer Rankings.
