Gators Take On Tigers Friday Night at the Ring

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 25 University of Florida men's tennis team returns to the Ring Tennis Complex on Friday night at 5 p.m. to take on the No. 64 Auburn Tigers. The Gators are 1-1 in SEC play after the first weekend of competition.
The Gators are coming off of a two match road trip where they took on LSU and Texas A&M. UF defeated LSU last Friday night, 4-3 in Baton Rouge. On Sunday afternoon, the Orange and Blue dropped a heartbreaker to No. 8 Texas A&M, 4-3 in a match that came down to the third set tiebreaker.
UF will host three straight home matches starting with Auburn on Friday. Arkansas and Ole Miss will arrive in Gainesville next weekend.
Last Serve with the Tigers
The Gators defeated the Tigers on March 28, 2015 in Auburn, Alabama. Redshirt sophomore Josh Wardell and freshman Jordan Belga each picked up their first career singles victory with wins on court five and six, respectively. The Orange and Blue grabbed four singles victories in route to a 4-1 win over then-No. 45 Auburn.

Florida leads the all-time series over Auburn, 38-15.
Making Moves in the Rankings
Senior Diego Hidalgo moved up 29 slots in the recent ITA rankings and is into the Top-25 currently sitting at No. 21. Junior Elliott Orkin jumped 16 spots from No. 49 to No. 33. The doubles tandem of Hidalgo and Gordon Watson are also ranked No. 2 in the nation in doubles.

UF has used seven different lineups in their ten matches this season. UF has compiled six wins with four different Gators clinching the match victories.
