GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 24 University of Florida men's tennis team defeated the No. 13 University of Arkansas Razorbacks, 6-1 on Friday night at the Ring Tennis Complex. The match win pushed the Orange and Blue to 3-1 in Southeastern Conference play.
Doubles action saw Gator juniors Maxx Lipman and Elliott Orkin grab their first SEC doubles match win on court two with a 6-2 win over Salazar and Sanjurjo. Seniors Diego Hidalgo and Gordon Watson clinched the doubles point for the first time since Feb. 13 with a 6-3 victory of the No. 31-ranked pairing of Micolani and Redlicki.
Florida would grab five more team points on the singles courts. Freshman McClain Kessler was off the court first with a 6-2, 6-4 victory on court six. Watson was next with a straight set 6-4, 6-3 win on court five over Adam Sanjurjo. Gator captain Orkin would clinch the match for UF on court two 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 over Jose Salazar.

On the confidence this win over a Top-15 program builds…
"I felt we have been so close in a lot of matches that we lost this season. We lost four 4-3 matches but all of those matches have been on the road. I think it certainly helps us to play at home tonight in front of our fans. I also think we have learned from our experiences with those losses and we understand how we need to set our mindsets before the match. Just like going into the doubles with the right mindset and then when we win the doubles point, we make sure to get our hands wrapped around the first part of the singles match and really try to apply pressure early in those matches. I thought our guys did an unbelievable job tonight of setting the tone early in those singles matches where we won five of the first sets. Then we were able to finish in the end. When they made their push and came out hard like Texas Tech did and Ohio State did earlier, tonight we answered the bell. I am just really proud of our guys for seeing it through."
Final Results
#24 Florida 6, #13 Arkansas 1
Doubles-Order of Finish: 2, 1*
Records: Florida (8-4/3-1) Arkansas (13-4/3-2)
