Wednesday, March 30, 2016 | Women's Tennis
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The No. 6 University of Florida women's tennis team opens up their final regular season home stretch on Thursday night as they host the No. 15 LSU Tigers at 5 p.m. The match will be UF's third straight contest against a Top-25 opponent.
The Gators are coming off a successful weekend in Columbia, S.C. where they defeated the No. 8 South Carolina Gamecocks. The 4-1 tilt was UF's second win over a Top-10 opponent this season. Florida stands alone atop the SEC standings and is currently on a seven match winning streak, all of which have come during SEC play.
The Orange and Blue will remain at home on Saturday afternoon where they will face No. 25 Texas A&M. First serve for that match is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Saturday will also be senior day for the Gators' Brianna Morgan.
Last Serve with the Tigers
Florida made quick work of the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge on March 6, 2015. The Gators grabbed the doubles point and got singles wins from Kuhlman and Keegan, then Morgan would clinch the match on court three to sweep the Tigers.
Series History with LSU
The Orange and Blue lead the all-time series with the Purple and Gold, 41-1.
Four, Five and Six: Undefeated
The bottom half of the Florida lineup is undefeated in SEC singles play with a combined record of 18-0. Five Gators have played in those three season throughout SEC play.
Clutch Kuhlman
Gator sophomore Josie Kuhlman has clinched two matches for the Gators this season, both of them coming against Top-10 opponents: No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 8 South Carolina.
UF vs. SEC Opponents
Since beginning play in the Southeastern Conference in 1979-80, the Gators are 381-20 all-time against SEC opponents. More impressive is Florida's astonishing 203-1 record against SEC foes at the Ring Tennis Complex.
The Streak
UF has won 155 straight dual matches at the Ring Tennis Complex, dating back to the 2005 season. The run is good for the longest active home winning streak at the Division I level.
