Gators Travel to NCAA East Preliminary Eyeing Tickets to Eugene

UF has nine men ranked fifth or higher and six women with top-five times or marks within the East Preliminary field
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida track and field program's 46 entries for the NCAA Outdoor Championships East Preliminary, the ninth-highest combined men's and women's total in Division I, will look to punch their tickets to Eugene, Ore. this week (May 26-28) at the University of North Florida.
The top 48 individual and top 24 relay declarations within the East Region and West Region earned berths to their respective preliminary meet.
By the end of the three-day competition, only the top 12 individuals and relays from each region will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, hosted by the University of Oregon at Historic Hayward Field from June 8-11.
Florida's women, currently No. 9 in the USTFCCCA National Team Rankings, boast 25 entries, which are tied for the seventh-most nationally. UF's third-ranked men own 21 entries, equal to the 11th-most by any team in the country. Moreover, the Gators are one of three men's teams touting a nation-leading 13 entries in the individual sprints and hurdles events.
Of those 21 men's entries, nine are ranked fifth or higher within the East, including Arman Hall's and Eric Futch's region-leading times in the 400 meters (45.17) and 400-meter hurdles (49.24), respectively. The women carry six top-five times and marks into regional competition, headlined by the collegiate-leading 4x400-meter relay team of Robin Reynolds, Kyra Jefferson, Sharrika Barnett, and Claudia Francis.
Competition at the East Preliminary, hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, will begin at 12 p.m. ET on Thursday (May 26) and Friday (May 27). The third and final day will begin at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday (May 28).
