The Gators went a combined 6-0 in singles action.
Cary, NC – The Gators compiled a combined 11-1 singles and doubles record on the first day of play at the season-opening Duke Bonk Invite held at the Cary Tennis Park on Friday.
Each of UF's six singles competitors won their respective first-round matches, while both of the Gator's new doubles teams went 4-0 in action.

Quoting Head Coach Roland Thornqvist:
On the Gators performance in singles: "I was really pleased to see that in the three matches were we split sets, that we were really strong in the third set at all three spots. We were able to extend rallies, hang onto the ball and use our legs to win."
On doubles play: "In doubles, I thought we were really good. Our two new pairings did a good job of communicating."
Overall thoughts on the day: "I thought the Gator's level of play was really high for the first day of the first event of the Fall. We look forward to even stiffer competition in the winners brackets tomorrow. For the first day of the Fall, I was very pleased."

Individual Results of Note:
- Peggy Porter was the only Gator who faced a ranked opponent on Friday and the junior emerged with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory against Miami's No. 32-ranked Yolimar Ogando, the highest-ranked opponent she has defeated in her career. Prior to Friday's victory, the highest-ranked foe Porter had knocked off was No. 47 Kelsey Laurente of Oklahoma on Sept. 14, 2014 at the 2014 Duke Invite.
- Junior Anna Danilina netted the second double-bagel result of her career, blanking North Carolina's Maggie Kane, 6-0, 6-0, in the opening round of the GOLD draw.
Doubling Their Pleasure:
- Pairing together for the first time, Kourtney Keegan and Peggy Porter team in the BLUE draw and Anna Danilina and Spencer Liang in the WHITE draw and both teams won two rounds and marched into the finals of their respective draws.
- Keegan and Porter won 8-4 and 8-6, while Danililna and Liang posted 8-4 and 8-1 decisions to reach the final round that will be played Sunday.
- Josie Kulhman and Belinda Woolcock won their opening round, 8-4, before falling 8-5 in the semifinals. They will play for third place on Sunday.
