Gators Set to Build on Strong Start at Hokie Invitational
Thursday, January 19, 2017 | Track and Field
Florida's potential dual-scorers will either double or look to post a top mark in a second event this weekend
BLACKSBURG, Va. – The University of Florida, ranked No. 1 and No. 6, respectively, in the men's and women's USTFCCCA Preseason National Team Rankings, head to this weekend's (Jan. 20-21) Hokie Invitational with seven men's top-16 times and marks and another five on the women's side.
All but two of those 12 top 16-ranked student-athletes will be in action this weekend, though some of them will be looking to post fast times and big marks in other events.
Freshmen Clayton Brown (high jump) and Grant Holloway (60-meter hurdles) lead the nation in their respective primary events, but will open in the triple jump and long jump, respectively, this weekend. Second-ranked long jumper KeAndre Bates will hit the runway for the triple jump Friday. And roughly two weeks after setting a personal record and logging a national top 10 time in the 60 meters, sophomore Michael Timpson Jr. opens up in the 200 meters.
Top-10 performers Darrielle McQueen (long jump) and Lloydricia Cameron (shot put) will build on their openers with triple jump and weight throw competitions.
A full meet schedule for Friday and Saturday is below.

Today was a GOOD day. But they don't hand out championships in January.#TheMissionContinues #GoGatorshttps://t.co/lcYktva0O5
