Florida already boasts 12 times and marks ranked in the top 10, and it will look to add more at the highly-competitive Razorback Invitational.
Gators Take to TV for Razorback Invitational
Thursday, January 26, 2017 | Track and Field
Saturday's coverage will be live on SEC Network from 2-5:30 p.m. ET
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Florida, ranked No. 1 on the men's side and No. 5 on the women's side of the USTFCCCA National Team Rankings, enters this weekend's (Jan. 27-28) televised Razorback Invitational with a total of 12 top-10 national times and marks.
Eight of those top 10s belong to the men, a figure that leads the nation, as do its seven top fives and three national leads.
Another incredible statistic for the men: four Division I men are ranked in the top five nationally in multiple non-relay NCAA Indoor Championship events—three of them are Gators. Sophomore KeAndre Bates is third in both the long jump and triple jump, freshman Clayton Brown is the national leader in the high jump and fourth in the triple jump, and freshman Grant Holloway leads the country in both the long jump and 60-meter hurdles.
The women are led by top fives from junior Lloydricia Cameron (shot put) and Yanis David (triple jump), though the former will not compete in Fayetteville this weekend.
Before examining this weekend's field, take a look back at the top photos and video highlights from a week ago:
The Razorback Invitational field features nine nationally-ranked teams on both sides, including four of each gender's top five teams. Several events include more than a handful of competitors either ranked in the top 20 nationally or qualified for NCAA Indoors last year.
Two of those events are the men's and women's 400 meters invitational races. Three women ranked in the top 10, including eighth-ranked Sharrika Barnett, will compete in the eight-runner field. The men's race will be even more enticing, as seven of the eight entries are either ranked in the top 10 or made the national meet a year ago, including UF sophomore Kunle Fasasi, who is ranked No. 3.
Other events featuring Gators and a host of top 20 entries are: men's 60 meters, women's 200 meters, men's 800 meters invitational, men's high jump, women's long jump, men's triple jump, and both the men's and women's 4x400 relay invitational races.
Saturday's action will be televised from 2-5:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network, while Friday's action will be streamed online via SEC Network +. A full meet schedule for Friday and Saturday is below.
