Deanne Rose is fourth Gator named SEC Freshman of the Year
GAINESVILLE, Florida – Five Gators appear on Southeastern Conference teams announced today by the league office.
Three Gators are on the 2017 All-SEC first team – Parker Roberts, Deanne Rose and Gabby Seiler. A pair of defenders – Kristen Cardano and Rachelle Smith – appear on the All-SEC second team.
The only freshman on the All-SEC first team, Rose is the SEC Freshman of the Year. She is the fourth Gator to earn the honor and first since Savannah Jordan in 2013. Rose, the only current league soccer player with an Olympic medal (2016 bronze with Canada) is also part of the SEC All-Freshman Team.

The Gators now head to the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach, Ala. Florida is the third season and faces No. 6 seed Auburn Tuesday's SEC Tournament opening round action. The Florida versus Auburn match begins at 3:30 p.m. ET at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala.
The Gators are the two-time defending SEC Tournament champion, claiming the program's 12th title with a 2-1 overtime win over Arkansas in the 2016 final.
