GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Remember us? We are currently the No. 1-ranked women's tennis team in the country and we are playing a home match for the first time since a thrilling win over the reigning NCAA champion.
Florida entertains No. 24 South Carolina on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex and admission is free. There will be a kids' clinic immediately following the match and it's free and available to all children in eighth grade and younger.
Saturday's match will be the Gator's first at home since defeating Stanford, 4-1, Feb. 19.
Florida is 11-0 overall this year and 2-0 in Southeastern Conference action, while the Gamecocks are 9-3 overall and a 1-1 in SEC play.
Quotes from the Court – UF Head Coach Roland Thornqvist
On playing at home again:
"It's actually great. We've had some weather issues during our road travels this season but our players have handled it with grace and professionalism. It's always nice to be home.
"We've been able to give our players a couple days off and away from Gainesville because of Spring Break this week to clear their heads and have fresh legs so we're ready to compete against a very athletic and competitive South Carolina team.
"They are very emotional and fight hard. They are going to bring everything they have on Saturday. After the couple weeks we've had of playing at a high level, I think we'll be ready."
