Florida's NCAA title chances will be far clearer after this week's NCAA East and West Preliminary meets
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Florida track and field program boasts a combined 52 men's and women's entries for this week's (May 25-27) NCAA East Preliminary meet, a series of qualifying rounds for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The top 48 individual and top 24 relay declarations within the East and West Regions earned berths to their respective preliminary meet.
The top 12 individuals and 12 relays from each regional competition will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., slated for June 7-10.
Eleven of the Gators' 26 men's entries are top-10 seeds, including regional long jump and triple jump leader KeAndre Bates. UF also boasts top-3 entrants in Andres Arroyo (800 meters), defending 400 hurdles national champion Eric Futch, Grant Holloway (110 hurdles, long jump), and the 4x100 relay team of Michael Timpson Jr., Holloway, Futch, and Ryan Clark.
Florida's 26 women's entries feature 10 top-10 seeds, with 200 meters regional leader Kyra Jefferson headlining the group. The Gators' 4x400 relay squad of Brandee' Johnson, Sharrika Barnett, Destinee Gause, and Jefferson also leads the region. Yanis David (triple jump) and Marija Vucenovic (javelin throw) round out UF's top-3 seeds.
SEC Network +, via Watch ESPN, will provide live streams of event finals all three days, though it will only cover running event finals. Links to the broadcasts and times of broadcast windows are below, as are times for all the Gators' events.
