Shara Proctor will make her sixth consecutive IAAF World Championships appearance
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Three Gators were added to their respective nation's IAAF World Championships roster the past two days, with Kyra Jefferson (4x100 relay pool) and Tony McQuay (4x400 relay pool) joining the United States, and Shara Proctor (long jump) joining Great Britain.

Jefferson and McQuay were added to Team USA in an official press release Monday (July 24) evening.

Jefferson, a native of Detroit, Mich., finished fifth in the 200 meters final at the USATF Outdoor Championships and ranks fifth in the world (22.02 seconds) at that distance this year. Her season-best time of 22.02 came at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, where she broke the 28-year-old collegiate record and became the fourth American in history to run 22.02 or faster prior to turning 23 years old.

McQuay, a 2016 Olympic gold medalist and two-time World Championships gold medalist for Team USA's 4x400 relay, finished fifth in the 400 meters final at USATF Outdoors. His season-best time of 44.51 ranks 10th in the world and sixth among Americans this year.

Proctor was officially chosen to represent Great Britain Tuesday (July 25).

Australia also announced its team Tuesday, confirming the participation of two-time Olympian and national record holder Genevieve LaCaze (3,000-meter steeplechase), who nabbed her qualifying time in May.

A total of 16 Gators will represent their countries at the World Championships, which will be held in London from Aug. 4-13.

The selection marks her sixth consecutive World Championships berth. Two years ago at the World Championships in Beijing, Proctor won the silver medal and broke the British long jump record (7.07 meters). And yet there's light at the end of the tunnel..
