LAS VEGAS – Having been eliminated from the draws, Gators competing at the Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the UNLV campus played added matches on Sunday to cap the weekend's play.

Freshman Katie Kubicz was the only Gator who posted a singles win and it was a thriller, as she recorded a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9) victory against UNLV's En-Pei Huang.

There were two flights of singles and two flights of doubles.

Who Competed

Athletes from eight different schools competed in the three-day event

No. 1 Stanford, No. 3 Florida, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 6 Pepperdine, No. 12 Texas, No. 16 Oklahoma State and No. 17 UCLA. Host UNLV provided eight singles players and four doubles teams in the draws.

What's Next for the Gators

Florida, the preseason No. 3-ranked team in the country, turns its full attention to team competition and launches its dual match season on Sat., January 27, when the Gators play host to Cal State Fullerton in the first round of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, which is a feeder into the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
Louisiana-Monroe and Marshall compete in the other first-round match of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend on Saturday, with the championship and consolation matches taking place Sunday in Gainesville.
The winner of the Gainesville site advances to the final site to compete against 15 other teams in Madison, Wis., Feb. 9-15.
